About the show:
The Show Inspired by a true story, “Voyage à Zurich” reminds us that death can be a great life lesson. Marie Christine Barrault fervently and whimsically portrays the actress Maïa Simon, journeying towards the light. When the white tulle curtains open on “Voyage à Zurich,” a long tracking shot is already underway, and on the background of the stage turned into a screen, the far end of a long corridor comes to us—a new and immersive theater. Director Franck Berthier draws from his personal history. In 2007, he accepted the invitation of a friend, an actress suffering from an incurable illness, to accompany her with a few close friends on her final journey. It took the encounter with Marie Christine Barrault and her luminous life force to illuminate this road movie. Under the pen of Jean-Benoît Patricot, this escape becomes a joyous trip, as it was in real life, far from a funeral elegy. It is a celebration and gentle determination, a hymn to friendship, freedom, and self-renewal and yet, with full awareness of the inevitable.
“Voyage à Zurich” concludes a process evoking individual rights in the face of societal laws.
